Milwaukee Christenings and Too Many Readathons // APRIL 2019 WRAP-UP

Wow, I haven’t done one of these wrap-ups in awhile! I thought that since so much had happened in my personal life this month, I thought I would like to bring this little gem back on my blog.

In Real Life

Earlier in April, I visited Milwaukee, WI to witness my youngest niece’s christening, along with my mother, older sister, her fiance, and my oldest niece. Additionally, I got to meet my brother-in-law-to-be’s huge family. And I thought my family was huge! They were the funniest, loving, kind, tight-knit group of people, which made my sister emotional because while our family is close at heart, we’re not close geographically. Most of our family is spread out between NJ/NY, Texas, California, Atlanta and Florida, so it’s hard to get everyone together aside from formal events like weddings, birthdays, funerals, graduations and such. So seeing my brother-in-law’s family all in one spot, still keeping in touch with each other, was really beautiful.

Here are some pictures of my baby niece and our family!

This was a month full of the 2019 Bookending Spring event, hosted by Sam @ FictionallySam and Clo @ BookDragons. I participated in this event last year, and it was so much fun, and I was so glad it came back for the spring session. Here were some of my favorite posts:

I also wrote a post about why I don’t have a review policy, and why I have considered getting one.

Additionally, I participated in a few other readathons:

  • O.W.L.S Magical Readathon 2019 with a Librarian career
  •  Alphabet-A-Thon 2019 Round 8: H Books
  • Audiobook A Thon
  • Tome Topple Readathon Round 8

I read some of A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer, an ARC of Again, But Better by Christine Riccio, Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi, and Small Great Things by Jodi Piccoult. None of which I finished lol. But I’ll probably (most likely) transfer all of these reads to next month’s reads.

In addition, I bought myself a Magical Monthly reading journal from Owlcrate. I’d found it on Mercari for $15 and thought that this would help me improve my reading by writing my thoughts down instead of typing them. There’s something about that notion that makes things seem more final.

    Weekly Prompts

I stopped doing weekly memes because I didn’t feel like doing them, to be very honest. It became more of a chore to do them every week, so I just…stopped. But I tend to miss them after a long while, so I’ll be sure to bring back Top 5 Wednesday, Top 5 Tuesday, IHeartCharactersMeme, and Book Blogger Hop!
