Valentine’s Day 2026: My Favorite Book Couple Hideaways

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕💕

I’m very much single, and I always have been, so I feel indifferent about this holiday. But this idea came to me during meditation this morning. So I thought I’d try it!

Romance novels sometimes have a special place where the two main characters go to. Whether that’s for one moment, or throughout the story.

Readers love to focus on those big, swooping, dramatic moments between characters. But I like to focus on the little moments between characters that’s just for them. A moment where they can be alone and not distracted by drama or chaos or conflict. They can simply be them.

These are some of my favorite hideaways from romance novels:

Orie and Osprey at Fiji from Attached at the Hip

This one was a surprise for me, because I didn’t expect to be so obsessed with Orie and Osprey’s connection in Attached at the Hip. I thought their connection from allies to friends to lovers was adorable; their banter on the island was so funny and creative. They ended up paired together on a Survivor spin-off dating/competition show called Attached at the Hip, and I love how much they bonded over books, their families, and stepping out of their comfort zones. They were the true definition of ‘competitors to friends to lovers’, and Attached at the Hip the show helped make it happen.

Edward and Bella’s Meadow from The Twilight Saga

If I had a wedding, I’d want it to look like Edward and Bella’s meadow! The beautiful clearing of the wedding, the trees, the small creek in the background, Edward sparkling all over the place lol! I always thought they had the most honest confessions at their meadow, which is very sweet. They had their first kiss there, their first time Bella seeing Edward’s sparkly skin there, also their post-proposal-pre-wedding scene (I think the last scene of Eclipse) was in the meadow. A lot of romantic moments in that special meadow!

X and Evie’s Dance Studio from Instructions for Dancing

I did a lot of dance growing up—ballet, contemporary/lyrical, jazz, tap—so reading Evie and her love interest X bonding over dance made me really happy. They were unexpectedly paired together for a local dance competition, and reading about not only their growth as dance partners, but as friends was really refreshing. Their connection only got better on the dance floor when they had to put their differences aside to win the competition.

Clary and Jace’s Greenhouse from Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I haven’t read these books in awhile, but I do remember Clary and Jace’s greenhouse scene in the first book, City of Bones, where they had their first kiss! I thought that was such a tender moment for them, and so exciting because it was Clary’s first kiss. Of course, that moment went to hell right after this book, but we’re not going to pay attention to that haha!

Nick and Charlie’s Beach in Heartstopper

It was a tie between Nick and Charlie’s beach or their school that I thought they’d have their most romantic moments, but I ended up picking the beach for this one scene:
