Name a book that feels like hidden gem!

The Sun is also a star by Nicola Yoon. Even though this is getting a big studio movie adaptation release later this year, I still feel like this book is a hidden gem, or you’ll know more about it if you’ve been following it for a long period of time. This is kinda instalove, but it doesn’t feel like that. It literally is read like an adventure book taken place in a day!

A debut novel you loved!

Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman. I don’t read debuts very often, but this one tugged on my heartstrings so many times while reading. I talk about this book a lot, but given that it has anxiety rep, it felt like it was written for me.

A book so good you didn’t want it to end!

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi. I’m in the middle of reading this one, but however, I literally don’t want this book to end! It’s s action-packed, filled with suspense, drama, a little romance, family values, and fighting for what’s true to you. If you haven’t read CBB, then you need to!

A book you bought for super cheap!

All of my books I’ve read on Scribd or Overdrive. Since I rarely buy books anymore, I borrow from both of those sources for package deals. Scribd pays $8.99/month, while Overdrive is free, being as it is connected to your local library.
My Scribd link, for those who want to try it out for a 2 month free trial (NOT sponsored)https://www.scribd.com/g/76lmdj
A book that changed your life!

Shadowshaper by Daniel Jose Older. I also talk about this book a whole lot, and with good reason. I havent read an urban fantasy that focused on character development, diverse characters, family issues and a believable romantic subplot. The cover is what drew me to read the book in the first place, but I’m so glad I did!
A book filled with so many surprises!

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo. Another poetry book I’m reading, but the audiobook is very good, very captivating. Elizabeth really knows how to draw you in with just her voice and her words on living as a biracial young woman in NYC, and becoming her own person. In every chapter, once you think the story will go one way, the next will take it in a completely different turn.

I nominate:
