I haven’t done these in a very long time, so here is my entire list of books I read in 2021, one-sentence review style. Some reviews required 2 sentences. But for the most part, I stuck to this rule. Enjoy!

January-February 2021

Heartstopper Vol. 1 & 2 by Alice Oseman: The cutest LGBT graphic novel ever!

Girls of Paper And Fire by Natasha Ngan: Thrilling, dangerous, magical, beautiful writing, Lei and Wren are unexpectedly perfect together!

A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness: This was very long but very much worthy of a read. Diana and Matthew are the perfect magical team.

April 2021

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang: Such a super sweet, funny, heartwarming, sexy, romantic read! [Review]

May 2021

With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo: This was full of family, love, acceptance, hope, change isn’t always a bad thing, and growing from a child to a woman. [Review]

June 2021

The Bride Test by Helen Hoang: I thought it’d be like The Kiss Quotient, but I was sadly disappointed.

July 2021

Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron: This took me ages to finish for Amandabb’s Patreon book club, but I’m glad I finally finished it; such a good and interesting take on Cinderella’s fairytale.

August 2021

Heartstopper Volume 3: Still adorable, but I wish there was more backstory between Charlie and Nick. I wanted more plot besides just their relationship.

September 2021

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: Give me a minute to dry my tears from my eyes, because this was so good!

October 2021

Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant: A breath of fresh air! – [Review]

November 2021

Black Heroes of the Wild West by James Otis Smith: Very informative, inspiring, a great visual representation of underrated Black historical figures in this era.

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo: Such an emotionally driven story between two girls who found a sister in each other they didn’t know they needed. – [Review]

December 2021

A Pound of Flesh by Sophie Jackson: A simple romance story between a prison tutor and a student criminal, but I couldn’t stop reading! It was so good!

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé: [DNF] At first, I was interested in it, but then it got way too traumatic and heavy to keep reading about Black and/or gay trauma.

Love and Always (A Pound of Flesh 1.5 novella): A pretty quick read/update on Kat and Carter’s life after the events of the first book. I wish it was longer!
