Bookending Winter 2018 Day 14: Favorite Holiday Traditions

Before we get started on today’s post, I’d just like to say thank you so much to some kind messages and comments on yesterday’s post on my anxiety attack. I’m glad that amongst all of the bad shit in the world, there is some good people left in it. I love you guys! 😘😘

I know it’s technically Day 16 and not 14, but I still want to post something just to post it. Plus, it’s my blog; what I say goes!

It’s Day fourteen of the Bookending Winter 2018 Event, created by Sam @ FictionallySam and Clo @ BookDragons. For more information on what the Christmas themed event is all about, visit my previous post HERE.

Today is Julia @ Fable Hunter‘s last day to host for this event. Her prompts have been so much fun! Let’s make her last day count with her prompt:

Prompt Title: Holiday TraditionsExplanation: Discussion of my favorite books and movies to reread/rewatch in the winter and why.

Putting up the Christmas tree –  I practically had to BEG my mother to put up the Christmas tree last year, but this year would be the first in a long time where I honestly don’t care if the tree is up. It takes forever to set up the actual tree, then the lights, decorations, the star itself. Also, with our busy work schedules, we barely have time to rest let alone put up the Xmas tree. So even though it is a huge disappointment, I guess it’s a sign of me getting older.

Buying 1-2 gifts –  I went from buying my nieces a billion gifts each Christmas, to buying maybe 1-2 things, to sending cards full of money so they can buy what they want. It’s easier for me too, just get me books and money!

Secret Santa –  Jamie @ The Broke and the Bookish does a Secret Santa participation event every year with her fans, and I’ve done two already in 2016 and 2017. I couldn’t do it this year because I missed the deadline, but next year, I’ll make sure to come back. I liked interacting with the hashtag #TBTBSanta and finding new friends via my Secret Santa.

The Polar Express –  Ever since ABC Family changed their network name to Freeform almost a year ago, I can’t find The Polar Express on TV except AMC OnDemand. This is more of a personal issue, but I love this movie, even though it’s about believing in Santa Claus, it’s still a fun, perfect, cinematic experience.

The Grinch Stole Christmas (Jim Carrey version) –  Another classic Christmas movie that has become a staple in my household! I love this movie, as old as it is, it continues to make me laugh. Plus, baby Taylor Momsen’s “Where Are You Christmas?” makes me cry every time!

Sleeping, sleeping and more sleeping –  Enough said! It’s not a movie or TV show, but sleep is always needed! 😉

What are some Christmas traditions you like doing during the holiday? Comment below!
