Top 5 Fantasy | TOP 5 TUESDAY # 4 @bionicbookworm

I don’t read a lot of fantasy, in general. I tend to read more contemporary and diverse reads. But I happened to find some of my deep cuts for fantasy, too. These are mostly books I’ve read a long while ago, or am in the middle of.

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme where I explore different topics. If you are interested in participating I would love to have you! Here is a list of my Upcoming Topics in September – please remember to ping back a specific post of mine so I get a notification and I will add you to the participants list!

This week’s topic: Top 5 Fantasy (YA or Fantasy)

3. Enigma by Tonya Kuper –  This is the sequel to Tonya’s first book, Anomaly, but this one drew more into me, not for the mental illness awareness, but for the interesting world-building. The people in this world create their own reality, whether they Push it into the surface, or Retract it back to make it disappear. It’s kind of hard to explain, but that’s the most basic way I can understand it. And it’s incredible! REVIEW

2. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern –  I haven’t finished this one but this is a weird one, too. It’s a magical circus that comes and goes in the dead of night, with two rivaling circuses battling, while the son and daughter of the magicians meet and fall in love. It’s a bit of a forbidden love story, meanwhile also being a fantastical adventure story.

1. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi –  I’m still on the hunt for this book, but I already am obsessed with it, while only reading one chapter! In one chapter, I had to give it back and now have to wait a million years to read the rest. But the fantasy world is amazing and imaginative and creative. The main lead character is both relatable and powerful at the same time, and I can’t wait to read the rest.
