TOP TEN TUESDAY #44: Books I’d Slay a Lion to Get Early!!

Formerly hosted by Jamie, Jana and Lauren of BrokeandBookish.com, Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly book meme that presents top ten lists on Tuesdays that promotes favorite bookish themes. Since BrokeandBookish.com had officially shut down in January 2018, Jana from ThatArtsyReaderGirl has offered to continue the series on her blog.

How it works:

I assign each Tuesday a topic and then post my top ten list that fits that topic. Youโ€™re more than welcome to join me and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

This week’s topic:  Books Iโ€™d Slay a Lion to Get Early

3. Tiffany Sly Lives Here Now by Dana L. Davis –  The story behind this book sounds hella interesting! You move in with your father after time and time again in the foster system, only to find out that he is not your real father?! Another man claims he’s your daddy?! Who do you believe? Who can you tell? What can you do? This is like the YA version of Maury and The People’s Court, and I love it!!

2. The Astonishing Color of After by Emily X.R. Pan –  Leigh Chen Sanders is absolutely certain about one thing: When her mother died by suicide, she turned into a bird. When you start a synopsis like that, you’re bound to catch my attention! Also, this reminds me a little of Starfish by Akemi Dawn Bowman, the mix of Asian contemporary drama with art.

1. Tyler Johnson Was Here by Jay Coles –  This reminds me a lot of The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, which roots in the Black-Lives-Matter, I’m still reading and really liking. But I feel like this will be different because it’s in a young black male’s perspective, which isn’t seen much in YA, at least for me.

Which books would you slay a lion (or any dangerous animal!) for? Comment below!
