#BOOKBLOGGERHOP (April 27-May 3): Fans’ Attachments to Character Deaths

This week’s question is about writing angry fan letters to authors after reading a favorite character’s death!

About the Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer from Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, I relaunched the meme on February 15, 2013.

Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end on Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

This week’s question submitted by Maria @ A Night’s Dream of Books:
Have you ever thought of writing a respectful, but angry letter to an author to ask them WHY they killed off one of your favorite characters in a novel?

My Answer:
I know this is a big thing to do on social media, especially if the author already has an account to interact with their fans, only to get hate and death threats when they kill of a beloved character. But for me, I don’t take it personal. I really don’t care, in fact, I like it when someone important dies because that’s apart of life. The people we love die!! Don’t send authors hate and death threats just because you can’t handle their death. How do you think the author felt when they had to outline their fave’s death?!

Rant aside, I don’t send any authors hate over something as silly as a character death. If they’re being problematic, then yeah maybe I’ll yell at them for it! lol

I ask this question back to you. Do you send authors angry messages online or offline when your fave dies?
