Seasonal Switch: Winter Version // BOOKENDING WINTER 2020 DAY 1

If you don’t know what Bookending Winter 2020 is, visit my introductory post here.

Today’s host Clo @ Cuppa Clo brings us a topic about a different environment:

Tuesday 1st December

Prompt Title: Seasonal Switch: Winter Version

Prompt Explanation: Taking your favourite books, imagine if the book took place in Winter instead? Imagine Winter in Outer Space? What would it look like on a spaceship? How about that favourite summer romance but now it’s in winter? What would happen? How would the seasonal switch affect the story (or not!)?

I don’t read many books with otherworldly environments, but if I had to pick some that would be interesting in the wintertime, here they are:

The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid – Most of this story tales place in the fall, so if the whole thing took place in winter, I think it would have more of an ominous feel to it. Especially since it’s about a renowned, reclusive, beautiful, haunted Classic Hollywood star.

American Panda by Gloria Chao – This story is already pretty sad, and yet it takes place in the summer/early fall. Winter would make this story even more sad, but the middle and the ending would create a hopeful feeling.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi – This one is a bit of a tricky one, since I’m not sure in which season this book takes place. It’s like in its own world by itself. I suppose if I had to pick a season, it’d fall, winter

Pride by Ibi Zoboi – Pride takes place in New York summer, so if it was in the wintertime, I feel like everyone would be freezing-cold and miserable in the concrete jungle. Zuri and her five sisters would be trying their best to make something out of a cold situation in NYC. More than likely, they’d stay in the house spying on the Darcy brothers, Darius and Ainsley on their adventures. Darius and Zuri would probably go out on more dates in the snowy city, especially since Zuri and her family moved across the city.
