2025 is finally here!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!! I hope you had a great holiday weekend. I’m not usually good with setting goals because I get a bit lazy towards the middle of the year. But these are things I will definitely try to do throughout the year for the blog.

2025 Goal: Monthly Wrap-Ups

I’ve missed doing monthly wrap-ups on the blog. I haven’t done them in a few years, so it would be nice to come back to them. My life is very boring lol outside of my work and school and my family. I don’t even see my friends all that often throughout the year. But I will do my best to post monthly wrap-ups of things going on in my life.

2025 Goal: Virtual Blog Tour for Destinations

My second poetry book, Destinations, is coming later this month! I was initially planning a book signing at the Writer’s Block Book Festival in Atlantic City in March, but it got cancelled today. Luckily, I have the African-American Read-In at Piscataway Public Library in February, where I’m reading some new poetry. But in between that time, I can also plan a virtual blog tour for this next book! I loved my first blog book tour back in 2022, when Reality Check first dropped. I loved getting to know all of the book bloggers who participated in my blog tour and read and reviewed my book. I’d love to do that again for Destinations.

2025 Goal: Daily Journaling

I stopped journaling daily for awhile, because of work, school, projects, and just plain laziness! I have a physical journal, as well as a Penzu journal on my iPad, and I don’t do enough of them. I also have a therapy journal for all of my notes during therapy sessions. But I definitely want to get into the habit of journaling my thoughts every day.

2025 Goal: Connecting with the Blogging Community

I’ll admit I’ve been slacking a lot with connecting with the blogging community. Yes, I do go on Discord and chat with my favorite people there on the Bookish Chaos server, and the BooksAndTea server, as well as the Bookwyrms server. But I don’t interact with the book community much outside of that. I do keep in touch with the library community, though. Through my close association with the New Jersey Library Association (NJLA), I’ve gained a ton of experience volunteering, gaining leadership roles and making friends, going to conferences. My work with them even got me my ALA Spectrum Scholarship for grad school! So even with all of these things happening, I still at times feel detached from the blogging community. I feel there, but not present. I don’t know if it’s because I’m in my 30s now, and I’ve been doing this hobby/passion since I was in my teens. Or if it’s life—school, work, family, myself—getting in the way of maintaining my blogging connections. Whatever it is, I want to come back to my blogging buddies in this amazing, growing community. I miss you!

2025 Goal: Posting More on Social Media

Let’s be honest, I’m terrible at social media haha! 😂 I know what to post on my personal page (@dani_pitter), but when it comes to my blog’s page (@PoetryBooksYA), I run out of things to post really quickly. That’s why I am blessed to have my niece who’s an incredible photographer Aniya @AnglesByAniya who does most of my book trailers and cover reveals and other photoshoots. I hope I’m able to do more with social media this year.

Comment Below: What are some of your goals for the new year?
