Happy Mother’s Day! (Almost) // Mother Figures // TOP 5 WEDNESDAY

So, I’m keeping my promise from my April 2019 Wrap-Up to resurge the weekly memes/prompts I use to do last year. To kick it off, here’s this week’s prompt for Top 5 Wednesday!

For those who don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is, it’s a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.

Created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week’s entry describes the top 5 mother figures.

May 8th: Mother Figures— In honor of Mother’s Day (in the US!), discuss your favorite mother figures. TRY to refrain from using HP characters. We all know those 🙂

Mama Agba from ‘Children of Blood and Bone’ –  I’m in the middle of this now, and it’s so refreshing to see a good relationship between a black ‘mother’/mentor and her student/child. You can tell that Mama Agba means the world to Zelie as she remembers her training techniques while traveling the world with her brother Tzain and Princess Amari. Especially that Zelie is harnessing her own powers, she is learning to take Mama Agba’s teachings into account.

Margot from ‘To All the Boys I Loved Before’ – Lara Jean’s big sister Margot is barely in the book or movie, but Lara Jean always looked up to her since their mother died. When she’s not dealing with the drama of her love letters being sent to her crushes, she’s missing her big sis, who moved to Ireland (Scotland? Book fans, help me out!) for college. LJ loves Margot dearly like a mother should.

Katniss from ‘The Hunger Games’ –  Another big sister who stepped up to not only protect her sister, but also protect the whole country of Panem! Even though she was reluctant to do it in the way she wanted, she still only did it for the people she loved.

Esme Cullen from ‘Twilight’ –  Bella’s actual mom Renee wasn’t the best mother in my opinion. She allowed herself to get carried away by a guy, got married, and Bella had to practically take care of her growing up. Esme, who is Edward’s adoptive mother, has become more of the supportive, doting, mother figure that Bella needs in her life. Someone who makes sure Bella’s eating well, sleeping, taking care of herself, being a grandmother to Renesmee. Plus, Esme is so sweet to her other adoptive children and treats Edward like her second son.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the fabulous moms and mother figures out there! Comment below on your favorites!
