My Favorite Yoga Poses

Check out some of my favorite yoga poses!

The Benefits of Yoga 🧘‍♀️

I’ve been practicing yoga for the past year and a half. I’ve done it on and off again throughout the years, but it took 2021 to really take yoga more seriously. Fresh off COVID, I still wasn’t comfortable working out in gyms and stuff, so I started practicing yoga again. Actually, it was my niece Aniya who got me fully back into it, because she’s a very spiritual person. We started watching many yoga tutorials on YouTube, and landed on Black Yogi Nico Marie. She’s so cool!!

Nico explains from the most basic poses to the most advanced. She also gives modifications for poses that are too hard. I’m not the most flexible yogi, but I stick to the modifications.

Here are some of my favorite yoga poses:

Child’s Pose 🧘‍♀️

This is basically my favorite pose to start off my practice with. I like how calming it is, and how it grounds me back to earth when I have a headache or knee cramps.

Downward Facing Dog 🧘‍♀️

This pose makes me feel strong, stealthy, like I’m holding a huge weight over my head.

Warrior 1 🧘‍♀️

This also makes me feel strong and powerful and confident, like I’m ready to beat somebody up in a duel!

Warrior 2 🧘‍♀️

This also makes me feel strong and confident, like I’m ready to beat somebody up in a duel or something!

Cat Cow/Barrel Rolls 🧘‍♀️

This pose is a favorite because of how loose my back and shoulders get afterwards. The barrel rolls get the tight kinks out of my back, shoulders, and arms.

Spinal Twists 🧘‍♀️

I get muscle spasms in the lower right side of my back, so doing spinal twists helps straighten out my back. Twists help me cope with these issues.

Wild Thing (Option 2) 🧘‍♀️

This pose brings me back to my ballet/dance days! It makes me feel graceful and flexible at the same time.

I liked doing yoga, probably one of the only exercices I would actually do! Although I like it better when I have a structure of some kind- like following a course off an app (which is mostly paid subscription..) with just youtube videos I find idk what to do!!
Following courses I find I stood straighter, and was stronger holding my plank poses too.

My lower back hurts all the time, and man do I don’t have balance xD The camel pose is my favorite, it feels sooo good!

Hi Kristina! 🙂 Yeah I like following a structure too. That’s why I like following Nico Marie. She sets her yoga sessions around a schedule so I know what poses are coming.

I’m not the best at balance either lol 😆 that’s why I shoot for the modifications of certain poses, to help me with my balance.
