When Your Post Doesn’t Do Very Well // Let’s Talk Bookish

Created by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, Let’s Talk Bookish is a segment where discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts every Friday.

This week’s prompt: November 5: When A Post Doesn’t Do Very Well (Suggested by Nicole @ Thoughts Stained With Ink)

Let’s Talk Bookish prompts: Imagine you’ve spent several hours, even days, perfecting a post that you’re so excited to publish. Finally, you hit publish and eagerly await the response. But the response is not as much as you’d expected, or worse, it’s nonexistent. Has that happened to you before? How do you handle poor post results? Do you think there’s usually a cause for poor post results?

After seven years of blogging and rebranding my blog, I go through these periods of drought very often. Especially during the spring and fall months, where less people are online reading for pleasure and read for requirements/school/work. So when a post doesn’t do very well, it sucks. I have to get out of the mentality where every post has to reach a certain amount of readers/views/clicks on ads, etc. Or else I’ll drive myself crazy!!

Now if a post doesn’t do well, or “no one” sees it, then I know not to touch that topic again for the next one. I’ll also look into why that post didn’t do well. Was it the topic? Was it my writing? Did I post too late? Did I not promote it enough? This blogging life is a hit or miss most days, especially with social media and Instagram and Tik Tok taking over. But I try not to take it personally anymore, because it’s no use getting upset over low views.

Liked and followed. I feel you on creating post. We spend so much time with SEO and getting the right pictures and crickets sometimes, but we keep going.
