This week’s prompt: What Is One Book Everyone Must Read? (Mikaela @ Mikaela Reads)

Let’s Talk Bookish Prompts: There are some books that are just required…or at least you personally think they are! Maybe it’s a book that changed your view on everything, or maybe it’s just the BEST vampire book ever written. What book do you try to get everyone in your life to read, even the non-readers?

There are many books I think everyone should read, like:

Epic Reads
  • Basically anything by Elizabeth Acevedo! Clap When You Land, The Poet X, and With the Fire on High are all so good in their own way. Elizabeth writes in such an emotional way that it sucks you into her poetry. As someone who is writing her first poetry novel, Elizabeth’s writing keeps me inspired and motivated for what I want my own books to read like.

Blue Willow Bookshop
  • Legendborn by Tracy Deonn is another one everyone should read. I’m still reading it now, but what I’ve read so far, it’s so good!! It has a lot of family drama, grief, death, trauma, fantasy elements that make sense lol, all in the place of The University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, which is a real university. At points, it feels more like a TV show than a book because of how descriptive it is!

Entertainment Weekly
  • The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang is a must-read!! It involves the relationship between a shy, awkward, booksmart Stella who hires an escort named Micheal to help her in the world of sex and intimacy. It’s a very interesting take for those who are kind of stuck in where to go between wanting to be in relationships, and stepping out of your comfort zone. It has autistic and POC representation; Stella is autistic, and Micheal is half Vietnamese, so both have diverse backgrounds and interesting cultures. Their chemistry is pretty steamy, so if you want a romantic contemporary book that’s of a different vibe, then I suggest you pick it up.
