Clo @ CuppaClo continues her final hosting day this week with her prompt:
Thursday 3rd December
Prompt Title: Supporting Small Businesses
Prompt Explanation: Shoutout your favourite small businesses for book lovers! Whether its book sleeves, candles, clothes, pins or something else – the sky’s your limit with the amount of love you can share for small businesses. I encourage you to boost ones you’ve already bought from, so you can share photos of your items BUT it’s of course entirely your choice. I will be sharing the love for all small bookish businesses I’ve bought things from, as well as including information with regards to where they ship to 😉
Most of the smaller businesses I follow are mostly content creators on social media, but they still hold the same amount of weight as a physical business does. These creatives put their blood, sweat, tears and time into making their work the best it can be, and most times, for free! They work so hard to provide for us not only as consumers, but to make their mark as companies.
Angles By Aniya – photography/videography – Yes, Aniya is my oldest niece, so this is technically a biased opinion, but I think it still holds true on how amazing and talented she is. She’s spent the past several years honing her craft as a photographer and videographer, and she has some fantastic work ahead of her. She and I have spent the majority of quarantine earlier this year doing photoshoots and content creations, both for her brand and my blog, PoetryBooksYA. It’s incredible to see how much she has grown, and I cant wait to see what ideas she makes next. (And yes, that’s me in the photos down below!)
Glitter Magazine – digital magazine – I had the honor of interning with Glitter Magazine back in May to August 2020, and it was a lot of fun getting back into the swing of writing for an entertainment website again. Glitter is like Seventeen, Just Jared, and People Magazine all rolled into one. They stand for inclusivity, diversity and female empowerment. They also have a digital monthly spread where they feature an up-and-coming or lesser known artist or actor. Their team is excellent and deserve all the praise!
Nyye Artistry – Natural Hair Care Salon – A’Nyah Caprice is the proud owner of this local natural hair salon in my homestate of New Jersey. I haven’t gone in as a client yet, but her pictures and videos of her clients’ hair makes me jealous for an appointment! A’Nyah is so good at taking care of her clients’ hair, and is informative of how they can maintain it at home. From flexi rods, perm rods, twist-outs, blowouts, microlinks, silk presses, coloring, and ponytails, Nyye Artistry does it all and very well.
ayeciara – fashion/beauty/hair care/lifestyle content creator – Ciara is a content creator on Instagram, and her sponsored photos always look so comfortable, stylish and positive. She started as a natural hair influencer, flourishing into a lifestyle creator who shares her ideas on family, home life and more. She’s not one of those phony, fake influencers that don’t want to connect with their audience. I love her cool, easy, chill personality, fashion sense and the way she loves God and her family.
nae2curly – natural hair content creator – Janae’s videos on natural hair tutorials are so creative, fun, and entertaining. She knows how to break down each step for people who need the extra help on what to do with their hair. I have Type 4B hair, which means I have thick, kinky-curly hair that takes the most time to manage and take care of. Janae and I have similar hair type, so her styles are easy for me to understand and follow.
Comment below! What are some of your favorite small businesses?
