MAGICAL O.W.L.S READATHON 2020 // My Very VERY Tentative Second Attempt and TBR

This is the second time I’m trying out the Magical OWLs Readathon 2020, hosted and created by G of Book Roast on Booktube. Last year (or maybe the year before?) when I tried this massive, amazing readathon, I felt so overwhelmed by my career choice (Healer), that I psyched myself out and gave up. But this time, I want to actually try again. This time with an easier career choice that is linked to a career choice in my real life: Librarian!

The way this readathon works is you pick a career choice, and for the OWLS part of your career, you follow along with the classes you’re supposed to take for that career. Then, after you find your classes, you match them with the prompt read for that class. From there, you can pick a book to go with that specific prompt.

Career choice >>  classes >> prompts >> books

Makes sense, right? This is why I’m not a teacher lol. I sometimes have issues explaining things properly.

But anyway, for my Librarian career choice, my OWL prompts are:

Ancient Runes
Heart Rune: Heart on the cover or title of book
Book choice: Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire

Arithmancy
Magical qualities of number 2: balance/opposites –
read something outside your favorite genre
Book choice: Call Me by Your Name by Andre Acimen

Defense Against the Dark Arts
Grindylows: book set at the sea/coast
Book choice: Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue
 by Mackenzie Lee

History of Magic
Witch hunts – books featuring witches/wizards
Book choice: Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

Transfiguration
Animagus feature – book/series that includes shapeshifting
Book choice: A Curse So Dark and Lonely by Brigid Kemmerer
This will be interesting for me especially because I’m apart of Roxie Reads Book Club, another reading group on Patreon, where we’re reading the Stories of Orisha series by Tomi Adeyemi (Children of Blood and Bone and Children of Virtue and Vengeance). I’m still on book 1, but I’ll probably use both books for my OWLS too, if they fit with the prompts.
