9. Idiot Verse by Keaton Henson – I actually heard of this book from Whitney from WhittyNovels, and the premise of this book sounds interesting and deep, so I’d like to read it. It’s by an English singer-songwriter who documented his last 3 years of his life and his journey. And he has social anxiety, so he rarely performs live. So that sounds like a real trip to get into.
8. Geekerella by Ashley Poston – I’ve heard so much about this book, and it sounds like a book I’d read before, so I’d like to see where this takes me.
7. One Wish Away by Ingrid Seymour – I’m actually a big Ingrid fan even though I’ve only read one of her books haha!! I’m a part of her ARC street team, so I get first dibs on her first copies, but I haven’t read the most recent ones yet.
6. A Quiet Kind of Thunder by Sara Barnard – I’ve been wanting to check this one out for awhile, especially since I have a high interest in ASL (American Sign Language). I have a friend who is hard of hearing/deaf, and she said it was really good! I’m not deaf, but I’d love to learn more about the deaf culture from a closer perspective.
5. The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – This one I want to read so badly because I’m obviously close to the source material as a young, black woman living still living in social, racial tensions in America. Even though I myself have not gone through the trauma of being hunted and shot by police brutality, the theme is something I’ve witnessed in the news a lot, and it’s very hard to ignore. Whether you’re black, white, or any kind of race, people should read this more to see the perspectives of how police brutality has taken over America.
4. The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon – I’ve been wanting to read this and Everything, Everything forever. Moreso this because the main character and the author are from Jamaica, which my family is also from. So I feel somewhat connected to it even though I haven’t read it!
3. Something in Between by Melissa de la Cruz – This is another immigration story that I feel connected enough to read, and I actually have a copy of this book!
2. Enigma by Tonya Kuper – I’m too excited to read this book, not only because tonya is a fantastic writer, but because I have a NetGalley copy of Enigma, from EntangledTEEN!! I’m just so excited to get back to my faves Reid and Josie and help them escape the bad guys!!
1. This is Where It Ends by Marieke Nijkamp – I’m actually a little afraid to read this one, given the topic about a school shooting. But I’ve had it on my shelf since last Christmas, so I could give it a shot.
