October 24: Top Ten Unique Book Titles
Half of these titles are of books on my TBR; they are books I aspire to read soon, and they’ve caught my eye every now and then.
8. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins – Mockingbird + jabberjays = mockingjay. Who knew?
7. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer – I didn’t know that the term twilight was an actual time of day. Interesting.
6. How to Be a BAWSE by Lilly Singh – A boss is an executive leader, but a BAWSE is someone who conquers their life inside and outside of the workforce, all-around. I love that Lilly Singh took the formal word and made it into something creative.
5. Evermore by Alyson Noel – Sounds like Forevermore from Beauty and the Beast.
4. 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami – I have not read this book, but it’s been on my TBR list for some time. And one of the reasons is the title alone. How do you pronounce it? What does it stand for? Is it a government name? A new language?
3. Sempre by J.M. Darhower – This was originally a Twilight fanfic back in the day, called Emancipation Proclamation (which I have yet to finish, even 6 years later!). And when J.M. made it into her own story, we TwiHards supported her fully. Sempre means ‘always’ in Italian, which is so fitting for this series.
2. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli – The ‘homo sapiens’ part reminds me of my high school History/Social Studies classes.
1. Anomaly by Tonya Kuper – I didn’t know what an Anomaly was until this book. It is defined as a deviation from the common rule, type, arrangement, or form. Which is exactly what Josie, the protagonist, is about.
