Poem 8: Balance

I found this post on Instagram, and it explains perfectly about how I feel about my life right now.
Right now, I feel like I’m in the middle of a crossroads.
I’m trapped between doing what I want, and listening to so many people
Trying to tell me how to live,
What to major in,
(even though I just graduated last May)
How to pursue my goals in life,
What to do,
How to live,
How to be,
Who to talk to.
And no one has asked what I want.
What I’d like to do.
They have, but it feels like no one is listening,
And when I try to, the words just don’t come out,
And then I’m left like the bumbling idiot girl who doesn’t know what she wants.
I hate this feeling.
But feeling this way has brought on a lot of thinking.
Thinking about myself, and where I am.
Thinking about my friends and how they are in their lives.
Thinking of my parents and my sister, and how they made it work for them.
Just thinking about a lot of things, but not really doing.
If you want something in life, you should do first, think later.
If it doesn’t work out, then it doesn’t work out,
And then try for Plan B.
But you can’t skip to Plan B if you haven’t even given Plan A a shot yet.
So go on, get out, do what you want.
and don’t care about what anyone else thinks, because it doesn’t matter.
You’ll be doing what you love, and they’ll be stuck wondering how you did it.
Make your own rules and follow your own path
And don’t let anybody tell you how to live according to theirs.
