Hereditary is Cassadee’s first pop-rock solo album, her fourth album overall. It is an amazing body of work that showcases not only her impeccable vocals, but where she is in her life. Here are some songs from the album I can’t stop listening to:

Welcome back to where you belong, Cass!!
I’m so excited for this music review, because I’ve been following Cassadee for a long time, since her band Hey Monday took off in 2008, their songs “Homecoming” blasting in my iPod in high school, hearing “Candles” on the show Glee in 2009, voting for Cassadee every week on The Voice season 3 in 2012, streaming her first country album Frame By Frame in 2013 on my bus ride to college. I also remember feeling super sad when she left her old record label, but I was excited when she independently released her second country album, Stages, in 2019.
I was even more excited when she announced her third album, Thrive, a fusion of country and pop/rock music, in 2021. But I’d felt like Thrive could have taken off further if it wasn’t released during COVID. The pandemic messed everything up, but it also gave us some clarity on what we should be doing. And I’m so proud of Cassadee for listening to her intuition and coming back to where she belongs.
“Hereditary” songs I can’t stop listening to
More to Me – Let me tell you about More to Me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Best song on the album!!!!!!!! Most underrated!!!!! I freaking love this song!!!! I love this because it’s exactly the buildup that I was looking for in Secret. Reading Cassadee’s post about More to Me on IG gave this song more context. About how after her third album “Thrive” didn’t do well in 2021, she felt defeated and was questioning where she should go. But making this song with Ali Tamposi brought back the fire and the drive to keep going. Plus, it’s so cool that we get to hear Cassadee’s midrange vocals; she sounds so powerful!
Three of Us – This is a deep, touching, haunting song about the experiences of dealing with a loved one with substance abuse. Being on the other side of it, the receiving end of a loved one you want to protect and take care of, and save, but you can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. Thankfully, I don’t know anyone personally who has dealt with substance abuse, but I do have family members who deal with mental illness, physical illness, and autism. It’s hard! It’s hard to fight so hard for some people who are only just starting to fight for themselves. I’m glad this song exists for people who share this perspective.
I Died ft. Daisha McBride – This song and video is so much fun!! I feel like Cassadee doesn’t get to collaborate with many rappers, so this was a fun way to explore her sound. Plus, Daisha’s rap sounded so good on this track. I love how they were in the middle of the spooky forest, haunting their exes haha! Also, Daisha is Ed Pryor’s cousin, who directed Cassadee’s videos for “People that I Love Leave”, “Almost There”, “Say It First”, “What the Stars See”. So it’s cool that family got to work together.
