I’m doing the Sunshine Blogger Award because I like blogging about myself today

Since you guys liked the last post I had made about the 17 Books and Music that had helped my mental health in 2020, I’ve decided to incorporate more personal posts. It’s been nice to sit back and fangirl about two of my favorite entertainment styles with y’all. So check that post out if you haven’t!

Thanks to the lovely Kris from Books and Dachshunds for tagging me in the Sunshine Blogger Award that I had unapologetically asked to be tagged in

My Answers:

What was the last book/song that you really related to- or that made you feel real seen?

I just did a whole post about my favorite books and music that helped with my mental health, so visit that post to see some of the things I related to.

What’s something more “un-usual” that you’d love to read more within books?

I don’t really read unusual books, if that makes sense. If anything I guess Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert is pretty unusual and weird. Not in plot, but in storytelling and narration because the main character Chloe is running through her list but still overanalyzing everything and avoiding her own self. Plus it’s British humor, and I’m American so some of the jokes go over my head.

Do you read the reviews of books before, or after you’ve read said book?

I read some of them before I read the book, just to get a general idea of how I’ll feel once I read it. But if I read enough, then I can make up whether or not I want to keep going.

What is your favorite reading position, and where?

Either in the living room, or in my room on my bed, where I can relax.

What is your go-to activity to get your mind off things/take the stress off your shoulder (preferably besides reading)?

Listening to music, podcasts, watching Youtube videos, sometimes Netflix if I know what I’m watching.

Is there a hobby that you used to do alot as a child but drift away as you grew up?

Going outside and having fun lol. When I was a kid, I used to love going outside and play with my friends and nieces, playing games and stuff. But as I got older, I grew out of that and stuck by myself in the house. I guess I miss being open and feeling free in my own world.

Do you have a specific topic that you’d love to blog about but are scared to?

I’d love to blog more about mental health, library life (like becoming a librarian), my writing journey, publishing my first book, and my life in general, but I’m too afraid of who would see those kinds of posts. Most people know this blog for its content on books and reading, which I love, but sometimes I want to switch it up and try something different. I’m also a perfectionist; I’ll spend hours — days — perfecting and crafting the right post, only to have a few people read it. So what would happen if I wrote about something else???

Do you tie books with specific events going on as you were reading them?

Yes, all the time! Most of the things I read are forms of escape from the real world, so if something significant happened in my life, it ties into the book as well. And it helps propel my writing too.

What’s the next goal you’d love to achieve with your blog?

Now, I think my goal is to move forward and make my blog look as different as the content is. In terms of branding and how the blog makes me feel when I click on its Home page.

Do you have a specific Autumn/Halloween read or media you love to consume in this time of year?

No, not really. I usually read when I feel like it, in whatever medium I see fit.
