Friends to Lovers is the Most Pure Romance Trope // #IHEARTCHARACTERSMEME

I Heart Characters! is a weekly meme hosted by Dani @ Perspective of a Writer to showcase our book blogger love for characters! Each week she’ll supply a topic and you’ll supply the character. Post on whatever day suits you, about characters from whatever media you love (books, movies, K-dramas, television, manga, anime, webtoons, whatever!) and link up on Thursday so YOU and others can blog hop and share the character love. ♡

This week’s prompt: February 21st – An OTP Embodying Your Favorite Romance Trope (Enemy to Lover, Friends to Lovers, Fake Relationship, or Forbidden Love whatever trope you love give us a couple has that type of romance. See the link for other tropes!)

I’m always here for a good friends-to-lovers trope because I think it’s the purest relationship type. To be best friends with your crush or someone you’ve been close to since childhood, and everyone around you can see it. And there are times when you have a moment where you think something is going to happen, but it gets interrupted!

I’ve seen it happen with Simon and Blue (Simon vs. the HomoSapiens Agenda), Diana and Matthew (Bishmont/A Discovery of Witches TV show), Hazel Grace and Gus (TFIOS), Sierra and Robbie (Shadowshaper). These relationships started out as friendships, which made their bonds stronger throughout their respective series.

Also, I think it sets a good example for younger couples out there that it’s good to start off as close friends, get to know each other first, and then think about getting into a relationship. We’d probably be better off as a society, what with everything being so sexualized…
