Hey guys! This is a new feature I joined from Goodreads’ Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.
Created by
Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by
Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week’s entry describes the top 4 books featuring vampires. It’s hard to believe only a few years ago, I was terrified of vampires; now I embrace them like they’re my own family haha! Anyway, here are my choices, in no particular order:
October 18th: Books Featuring [paranormal creature of your choice] –Here is the previously mentioned paranormal creature topic. This topic will revolve around one type of paranormal creature of your choice. So books featuring vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, demons, fae, zombies, etc.
4. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead – Vampire Royalty! Before this book, I didn’t even know vampire royalty was a thing. I’d just thought they rocked with a family or went rogue. But royalty? Wow! The concept from VA was interesting, especially since Lissa was the only surviving member from her family.
3. City of Bones/Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare – Downworlders! Another world I knew nothing of for vampires. For them to be somewhat separate from Shadowhunters, werewolves and the like, but still have to work together to fight evil. Astounding for all of this group power!
2. Running in the Dark by Inger Iversen – Vampire Spies! I knew vamps loved to hunt (animals, humans, whatever), but them being spies in this small novel made their supernatural powers stand out even more. Their powers were necessary to find their victims and kill their prey.
1. The Twilight Saga – Vampire Families (and yes, they sparkle. So what? It’s different!) – The one and only Cullens! And their friends lol. These vamps were not only understanding of humanity, but used their powers and gifts to make immortality interesting. If I were a vampire, I’d love to join the Cullen family as an honorary member, but A) they’d probably be too “famous” to take up anymore people, or B) the Volturi would want to attack me. But the way they protect and love each other, even though they’re not blood-related, is very nice to see in fantasy YA.
