Hosted by Jamie, Jana and Lauren of BrokeandBookish.com, Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly book meme that presents top ten lists on Tuesdays that promotes favorite bookish themes.
This week’s theme:
June 27: Best Books You’ve Read In 2017 So Far (break it down however you want — by genre, strictly 2017 releases, whatever!)
5. Terrence: A Love Story by Alice Rachel – I’m still in the middle of reading this short story, but it’s so cute so far. What if we lived in a world where being gay was illegal? What if you could get shot dead by authorities if someone saw you hold hands, kiss, touch or even look at a person of the same gender? This book so far sets me on edge, but there are a lot of tender moments, too.
4. How to Be a Bawse by Lilly Singh – I’m so sad that I have to take this book back to the library tomorrow, because it’s been so good! It’s Youtuber Lilly Singh’s first book, and it doesn’t hold back. Not only does she give great tips on how to have a fulfilling life, but she talks about her life before YouTube. She had been in a state of depression for a few years, before she had decided to get help and turn her life around for herself. Sure, some of her advice in the book speaks out of her own experiences on YouTube, but in general, her book is a really good, funny read.
3. Uncovering Officer Smith by Sheena Hutchinson – I started reading this book about a year ago, but I haven’t really talked about it. It’s the second book in Sheena’s Discovering April series. I loved the first book back in 2014, so I was excited to check out the sequel. There are some characters from the first book who make cameos in the sequel, which I thought was a nice touch. The story is good too, I just need to finish it!
Only three books this week because those are all I have read this year. I’d love to know your choices in the comments below.
