Hey guys! This is a new feature I joined from Goodreads’ Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.
Created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week’s entry describes the top 5 favorite hate to love ships:
June 28th: Hate to Love Ships

5. Edward and Bella from Twilight – Did anyone forget that Edward absolutely hated Bella when they first met? It wasn’t even Bella’s fault that she was so….appetizing and he’d hadn’t hunted that day. But Edward hated her just the same. But after he saved her from Tyler’s rolling van coming towards her in the Forks High parking lot, and Bella became frustrated with his allusiveness, Edward took a liking to her. And that awkward “first date” in Port Angeles kinda sealed the deal with their relationship. You could feel the sexual tension between them, until the meadow scene when they finally gave in to their feelings. Their beginning relationship is a roller coaster, but it fits for where they end up in the end of the series.
4. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett from Pride & Prejudice – Their relationship was both classic and relatable. At the time, I didn’t even understand all of the language of which they spoke while hating each other, but when I saw the 2005 movie, their tension shone through on screen. Their disdain for each other was mostly based on class and status, but once Mr. Darcy helped Elizabeth’s sister, she let her guard down and fell for him.
3. Ron and Hermione from Harry Potter – They may have gotten together in the end, but Romione did not like each other in the beginning at all. Ron had thought Hermoine was an absolute nightmare to be around, and he’d only used her intelligence to copy off her homework. Hermione had thought Ron was just insufferable, immature, rude AF, and mean. Which for the first five books, he was lol! But after book five, he chilled out and really let his feelings for Hermione out.
Naming only three because those are typical ones I know of. I need to read more, clearly…
