I don’t go on road trips, but I do vacation a lot, and I hardly read on vacation. I’m busy doing other things besides reading, like swimming, partying, hanging with family and friends. But these are some books I would read if I had time to on vacation. It’s somewhat of a fantasy list, not the genre, but the books I’d have intention of reading during vacation.
For those who don’t know what Top 5 Wednesday is, it’s a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.
This week’s topic: Roadtrip Books
July 25th: Roadtrip Books— This time of year is vacation and roadtrip season for many. Discuss books that feature roadtrips.
5. I’m Judging You by Luvvie Ajayi – I’ve been wanting to read this book for ages, not because I’m a huge Luvvie fan, but because she’s such a talented, funny writer. This book is both lighthearted and eye-opening for any vacation.
4. The Summer of Chasing Mermaids by Sarah Ockler – Another book I’ve been wanting to read for awhile. Not only is it a breezy cover at the beach, but the story of a girl from Trinidad & Tobago losing her voice is captivating.
3. Geekerella by Ashley Poston – This trope of fangirl meets her biggest hero has been done so many times before, but this one seems like it’s more focused on both perspectives instead of just one: the geeky, nerdy fangirl and the famous heartthrob actor.
2. You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner – I know some ASL — American Sign Language — so I would be able to read some of this book about a deaf girl who uses her art to showcase her experiences in her urban city. Until she gets caught.
1. Eliza and Her Monsters by Francesca Zappia – This supposed to be another love letter to fandom meets anxiety, so this would be a nice pickup for a long vacation away.
