This is a stream of consciousness post on my thoughts on the new year, my blogging experience, and failing Patreon page.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 2023!
I’m back!!
Well, to tell you the truth, I never really left. But it’s been awhile since you’ve heard from me. Since we last talked, I told you guys about my scholarship and getting into grad school. I just finished my first semester of grad school last month, so I have 2 weeks off until the spring semester starts.
What will I do with all of that free time??
To be honest, since school started, I’ve been very lazy with everything else. With taking care of myself, sleeping late, waking late, being a bit of a homebody. And since I go to school remotely, most of my luxury time is spent in the house, with my family. I love my family, but there are days where I don’t know what else to do. Especially with this blog.
Since 2014, all I ever loved was books. I loved talking about books, reading them, writing them, collaborating with other book bloggers, joining Discord chats, watching Booktube videos, everything. But there are times where I want to write about other things, like movies and music I’m into. I’ve tried that on here, but since I established my *brand* with books, reading and publishing, writing about other topics, and gathering people who vibe with that, has been a struggle.
That’s why I created my Patreon page. Last year, I created a Patreon page to discuss poetry, stories I’m writing, Book of the Month clubs and much more content that doesn’t necessarily fit on the blog. But, there hasn’t been much traction there, either. To be very transparent, I’m down to 1 patron now. One. The number of patrons doesn’t really matter to me, but I wish my page was more effective and interactive, so that I could have all the more reason to write more content there. I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m complaining, but it’s been tough making creative writing content for both pages.
So this year, I’m going to try something different.
Instead of limiting my topic choices to just books on the blog, I’m going to write about whatever the hell I want. Whether that’s books, movies, music, TV (even though I suck at keeping up with shows!), and whatever else. Whatever my heart desires. And if you want to include a topic, leave a comment in the comments section below. I want to create a conversation again. It’s important to me for us to be close again.
I didn’t really have a set format for this post. This is more of a stream of consciousness type of thing; I just wanted to say hi, and tell you guys my thoughts and how I’ve been feeling.
Stream of Consciousness – Comment below: how was your holiday season? what are some blog topics you want me to write about?
