This week’s prompt: More Than a Father (In tribute to Father’s day, a character that is a mentor to a younger person. It could be an uncle, a boss, a friend, but they supply mental support to another character.)
If you haven’t seen Avengers: Endgame yet or at all, DO NOT READ FORWARD!!!! There is a major spoiler, and if you don’t like spoilers (like me), then you will be highly disappointed in which character’s fate I’m talking about in this week’s IHC meme.

Ok, so if you’re still here, that means you have seen Endgame and know whom I’m talking about, and it’s Iron Man and his fatherly/mentor relationship with Spider-Man!
Mind you, I’m not even a huge Marvel fanatic (or superhero stan in general), but when I tell you Tony Stark’s death hit me so hard. Not only did he survive by his wife Pepper Potts, but he’d also surivived by his daughter and Peter Parker. Peter wasn’t Tony’s son by blood, but he’d treated him like family by the way he’d taken him in as an intern at Stark Enterprises, trained him, made him a new suit, taught him the values of separating your own identity from your super-identity.
Out of all of the Spider-Man movies, I liked Tom Holland’s version of Peter the most because it showed that Peter is still just a kid underneath all of that armor. Same with Tony; he’s just a man underneath all of his suits and technology. They had this bond that only they could understand. It’ll be interesting to see the aftermath of Endgame plays out in Spiderman: Far from Home, coming July 2.
RIP Tony Stark aka Iron Man aka the best “dad” in the MCU!
