#T5W TOP 5 WEDNESDAY: Favorite Angsty Romances

Hey guys! This is a new feature I joined from Goodreads’ Top 5 Wednesdays, a weekly book group about our top five favorite things in the middle of the week.

Created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and now hosted by Samantha from ThoughtsonTomes, this week’s entry describes the top 5 favorite angsty romances. Most of the angsty romances I read are from Twilight fanfiction, but they still have the same amount of heartwrenching angst!! If I manage to find some actual books that have the same thing, I’ll add those too.
5. A Deep Slow Panic by myonlyheroin – I just finished reading the final chapter of this fanfic and it’s so good and the beginning is so sad. It’s what the Twilight Saga: New Moon would have been like if Edward had came back 2 years later.
Summary:
NM AU—It has been two years since I left her behind. Two years to the exact date. My chest rises and falls in fast succession as her heart beat thundered against my ears. She’s here, I’m here and dark anxiousness sets in. Will this be our final undoing?
4. Sharp Left Turn by FyreByrd – I don’t remember all of this fanfic, but I do remember crying over it. The feels, man…
Summary:
In an instant your life can take a sharp left turn. Can you find the strength to lose it all and gain the unknown? Lives will be shattered, including your own.
3. Yes by GeekChic12 – This isn’t really angsty, but there are moments in the story where Edward and Bella have breakdowns individually, which are really sad to read about. Plus, Edward has Asperger’s Syndrome, and he deals with a lot of bullying, which is hard to read.
Summary:
“He talks to me sometimes. I mean, it’s usually sort of one-sided, but… every once in a while, he’ll make eye contact with me, and I feel like I’ve won the lottery or something.” A boy most people overlook. A girl who sees just how amazing he is. All human. High School. Dedicated to lellabeth.

2. Sing for Me by Gracie Madison – A forbidden romance between an angel of light and her guardian. Angst is fully loaded up until the last couple chapters.
Summary:
Madeline Noel fled war-torn Heaven to hide within the mortal world, but the blessing that could protect her from evil is the holy realm’s forbidden power.
As a talented soprano for the Eden Theatre Company, Madeline hides among prima donnas and tone-deaf flutists. Her perfect voice may entertain audiences, but a careless laugh may shatter glass, and her greatest scream can kill. To control her unrestrained voice, the angels forbid Madeline from embracing the emotions that strengthen her song. Anger. Fear.
Love.
The demon-hunter Damascus vows to defend Madeline from Hell’s relentless evil, but he cannot protect her from her own feelings. Though they deny their dangerous attraction, her guardian becomes her greatest temptation.
Surrendering to desire may awaken the gift suppressed within Madeline’s soul, and neither Heaven nor Hell will allow such absolute power to exist.

1. The Twilight Saga: New Moon – The saddest of all the Twilight books. Edward leaves Bella, and sinks into a hardcore depression. Terribly sad. When I first read the book, I cried for days. I didn’t even know he comes back at the end lol. After Bella saves his dramatic ass for showing himself in front of the humans in Italy. You can tell I’m still salty about this even though they get back together in the end lol. But it’s still full of angst and sorrow.

Summary:
I knew we were both in mortal danger. Still, in that instant, I felt well. Whole. I could feel my heart racing in my chest, the blood pulsing hot and fast through my veins again. My lungs filled deep with the sweet scent that came off his skin. It was like there had never been any hole in my chest. I was perfect – not healed, but as if there had never been a wound in the first place.
For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning…
