This week’s question makes me so happy, especially as a library school student in grad school!

This week’s prompt: Reviewing Books? (Suggested by Mikaela @ Mikaela Reads)
Prompts: Do you have a local library you go to often? Does your school/did your school have a library? What are your favorite things about libraries? Are there certain books you borrow from your local library more or less often than others?
Like I said in the intro, I’m excited to answer these questions, because as a grad student studying library and information science, it’s important to use the one thing that has inspired me to be in this industry.
Do you have a local library you go to often?
I have a local library that’s literally ten minutes from my house. I go there all the time to print out papers, forms and other things. My printer at home sucks, so the library’s printer is a good option. I also borrow and put ebooks on hold using Libby and Overdrive. Libby and Overdrive are online and mobile apps to borrow books, audiobooks and other materials using your library card. It’s easier for me to borrow books online than in person, since it’s all from home.
Does your school/did your school have a library?
My high school did, and I remember borrowing books from there, too, as a kid! I don’t remember which books I borrowed there, but I do remember always using it. My college libraries during my undergraduate years had a pretty small selection of Fiction books, but they did have a useful database that I used for writing papers and research. I haven’t dove into Rutgers University’s library for my Master’s program yet, but I’m sure it is very useful too.
What are your favorite things about libraries?
My favorite thing about libraries is the feeling always being at home there. There’s this warm, cozy feeling whenever you walk into a library, and see how the visuals are set up, the programs and events they currently have. I don’t often go to programs from my local library, but I sometimes go to some from others.
I also love how librarians are so willing to help you with almost any task. The ones I’ve spoken to, and are friends with, they are some of the most friendly, encouraging, intelligent people. Are there certain books you borrow from your local library more or less often than others?
I mostly read Young Adult and Adult Romance, Contemporary, and Fiction, so I mostly stick to those genres when borrowing. I also read some fantasy, but that’s rare now. I guess I borrow less fantasy because I never know where to start! There’s so much I want to read or check out, but never know which one to pick up first.
