Reviewing Books? // Let’s Talk Bookish

I haven’t been blogging in so long, so I thought a weekly meme this weekend might bring me out of my writing funk.

Created by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, Let’s Talk Bookish is a segment where discuss certain topics, share our opinions, and spread the love by visiting each other’s posts every Friday. Since April, the segment has been taken over by Aria @ Book Nook Bits. Aria also created beautiful, new graphics for the meme.

This week’s prompt: Reviewing Books? (Suggested by Rachel @ A Bookworm in Paradise)

Prompts: What makes you want to review or not review a book? Do you review every book you read? Are some books harder to review than others? Do you review books you disliked? If you’ve ever written a ranty review, have you regretted doing so afterwards? Do you delete reviews that are “outdated” or don’t follow what you think of the book now?

I’ve been struggling with reviewing books as of late. It’s not that I don’t want to review everything I read, but I sometimes don’t feel the instinct to. The last book I completed was The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang, and at first, I wanted to review it. But as I pulled open a WordPress draft to start typing, I felt a sense of fatugue. Like a here we go again vibe.

Maybe it’s my mindset towards book blogging in general, but it’s also due to me wanting to enjoy books for myself. Without the need to login to my account and share my thoughts on a public platform. There are times I want to share those thoughts, but most times, I want to hold the book’s atmosphere for me.

Bookish is an interesting title. I find it challenging to read books that I don’t like but I can review controversial books.

Yeah it’s a cool title! Funny, I find it challenging to review controversial books but I can at least read half of a book I don’t like.
